Charlie McPherson serves as the North Platte NBDC Center Director at Mid-Plains Community College. He joined the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) and Mid-Plains Community College team in November 2013 after working with the State of Nebraska as a Case Manager for the previous 8 years. His work involves providing small business consulting through NBDC services and training. Charlie also works alongside area lenders, chambers of commerce, and community and economic development leaders to provide support to the communities in the 18-county MPCC region.

He plays a critical role in small business development that provides direct one-on-one basic consulting assistance to small business owners and prospective small business owners at no cost.

Charlie, along with NBDC and their services, helps assist small business owners and entrepreneurs in business planning.  He will also help them build a three-year financial forecast for their business that includes a cash flow analysis.  This becomes a key component of a commercial loan package and is required for SBA guaranteed loans.  A business financial forecast helps business owners determine capital needs, build strong operations practices and helps in developing a successful business strategy.  Charlie works with their banks/lenders to package a successful loan application, including the preparation of all components for an SBA guaranteed loan, blending of multiple sources of start-up, expansion or restructure financing.

Charlie also serves on the North Platte Community College Business Advisory Board, Project Manager for the Hormel Entrepreneurship Competition, and is a member of Optimist International, National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, Growthwheel® Certified Business Advisor, Nebraska School Activities Association / Nebraska High School Officials Association and one class away from earning his Economic Development Finance Professional certification through the National Development Council.
